Mary J. Smith earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from Missouri State University in 2020 and graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law in 2024.

While studying at the University of Missouri School of Law, Mary was selected for the Missouri Law Review. Mary’s Case Note was published in the Summer 2023 Edition of Missouri Law Review. From 2023–2024, Mary served as a Note & Comment Editor for the Missouri Law Review Editorial Board. Mary also served as a Teaching Assistant for several law school courses, including Legal Research & Writing, Law of War, and Military Law, and participated in the University of Missouri School of Law Veteran’s Clinic.

Mary is a Litigation Associate Attorney at Appleby Healy and works with Managing Litigation Attorney Donovan D. Dobbs on several cases. She practices in several areas, including general civil litigation, family law, and criminal law.

Mary is licensed to practice in the Western District of Missouri and the Eastern District of Missouri. Mary is also a member of the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association and the Missouri Bar.
